Aww, nuts! Well, I've been eating healthy this week, and exercising like crazy, so this doesn't make me feel sad. Just a little poor-er. I'm still lighter than I've been since college, so hurrah for that! :) I'm confident that if all I do is stick to it, I'll keep going down. Thank goodness for delta-based weigh-ins, is all.

I met a traveller from an antique land Who said: Two vast and trunkless legs of stone Stand in the desert. Near them, on the sand, Half sunk, a shattered visage lies, whose frown And wrinkled lip, and sneer of cold command Tell that its sculptor well those passions read Which yet survive, stamped on these lifeless things, The hand that mocked them and the heart that fed. And on the pedestal these words appear: "My name is Ozymandias, king of kings: Look on my works, ye Mighty, and despair!" Nothing beside remains. Round the decay Of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare The lone and level sands stretch far away.

I woke up this morning at 221, but sixty minutes on the AMT brought me within the zone. Hurrah!!! In nine more weeks, I will (hopefully) crack 200!

AARGH. I tried to coast one crucial day too long... and the wheels came off. I've done a terrible job at 1 pound a week. RENEW DEDICATION

My WiThings scale died; it can't see my new wifi network (not its fault), and it's eating batteries again. That, combined with the fact that I HATE seeing a fourth digit on the scale (again, not the WiThings scale's fault), put me BACK on my old scale. This is perilously close to cheating, since my old scale has historically been ~2 pounds lighter than the withings scale, but OH MAN it's a relief to be back on integer numbers, and not have to photoshop out the reflection on the scale.

Thank god for the new delta-based weigh-ins. I'm plateau-ed at 225 (223 according to the old scale, but I should stop paying attention to that.) I must break THROUGH this plateau. I started out at 257 (I got on LIOLI after I had lost six pounds in anticipation of the site), which means I have lost 34 pounds. If I lose 34 more, I'll be... you know what? The hell with the long-term goals. Going to concentrate on ONE pound this next week. Then ONE pound the week after that!

NUTS! And on the week the article came out, too. Damn. We went to the beautiful, historic Bedford Springs resort over the weekend to celebrate Barb's 60th birthday, and I fell off the wagon. Into a delicious steak dinner, and a cheeseburger lunch. Well, I'm glad of delta-based weigh-ins, I guess! Here's to making my goal for next week!

I took this photo in the dark this morning, trying to keep from waking everybody up. As a result, the scale turned into a GIANT FLARE. I tried to rescue the numbers by adjusting, but no luck. So I put an iPhone app screenshot on the picture, and you can also see the measurement on my WiThings page here: http://bit.ly/axhZNk

I'm glad I made my weight, hurrah! The shiny, reflective face of the WiThings scale continues to provide a startling perspective. I grabbed a Lands' End brochure off the bureau and put it on the scale. It worked great! Though the model's coy smile seems a bit forced.

I've switched over from my old whole-number scale to a WiThings scale. The WiThings scale is a consistent 2.5 pounds heavier than the old one -- that's okay. What bothers me is the reflective glass surface. Seriously, without surgery, this image would have been NSFW. "Just wear pants!" I hear you saying. Are you kidding me? PANTS ARE HEAVY. We've got to figure out a different solution!

When I got up this morning, I was 226 pounds. TWO HUNDRED TWENTY DAMN SIX. So I got on the elliptical trainer for an hour, with my heart-rate strap set to "redline". The results are, um... kind of frightening. BUT I WILL TAKE IT!

Well, about the only good thing I can say about getting a 24-hour stomach bug the day before weigh-in is that it leaves you in little doubt as to whether you're going to make your weigh-in! So this is an anomaly. I'll just eat healthy this week, and try not to worry about LIOLI.

Half a platter of Don Gabriel's chilaquilles and a four-course birthday dinner at Gilmore's this week. PHEW, I'm glad I made my target (yesterday, I passed up a yummy omelet bar in favor of a nice, tall glass of chia gel when I got home OH BOY YUM.) Still, chia gel and a hundred bucks is better than a yummy omelet bar. Barely.

I had some fantasies about what I was gonna eat when the plan was over: "I'll go to the Charcoal Pit and get a bacon cheeseburger AS BIG AS MY HEAD!" -- now that my first plan is over, I think I'd rather push on all the way to skinny, rather than pause here at "incrementally less chubby." ONWARD AND DOWNWARD!

YEAH! I got into a box of Wheat Thins on Monday. Wheat Thins washed down with delicious whole milk, man. Oh, boy, that's good. But I managed to get back on track, glared at the scale, and THE SCALE OBEYED. Victory! Now to re-up for the next plan, and go for a flawless run next time.

After a week of carefully watching my caloric intake with the LoseIt iPhone app, I got on my integer scale. 233! Victory! Hurrah! I picked up my iPhone from the sink counter to take the picture... ....and the scale flipped to 234. Seriously, this happened. I put down the phone: 233. I picked up the phone: 234. At Darren Weaver's suggestion, I deleted some apps from my iPhone, held my breath, and balanced on one leg on the scale. SUCCESS, and I made my weight! Hurrah!

Sticking to the calorie budget in my loseit app paid off this week, as I made my goal without last-minute drama or histrionics. Hurrah! As of now, I've lost sixteen pounds on LIOLI. The program's working well -- I'm looking forward to a BIG meal at the Charcoal Pit or Don Gabriel's before I re-up for a second plan! :)

I did a *pretty* good job this past week -- five workouts, stayed away from MOST of the chocolate panna cotta cake, etc. And ended up a pound over my target (and that's AFTER a brutal workout with Reuben the physical trainer at the Y.) I almost decided to drive to the Airport Road YMCA and sit in the sauna for twenty minutes to reach my goal, but at some point I feel like I'd be losing sight of the goal, which is to lose TWENTY pounds over ten weeks, rather than just game the system each Monday. So I'm going to take the hit (you win this week, LIOLI!) and concentrate on sticking to my calorie and exercise targets this week. Let's hope I can reach my goal weight without strenuous Monday-morning endgaming!

I squandered the buffer. I'm not good with buffers. "Oh, I have a buffer I'LL JUST EAT THIS MAC AND CHEESE." This morning, I was two pounds ABOVE my weight. I got on the elliptical trainer until it said I had burned 666 calories, and LO AND BEHOLD I made my weight!

THERE'S that buffer that I've been looking for! Man, I have to say that the "hundred-dollar cheeseburger" part of @loseitorloseit really takes willpower out of the equation. I haven't even been hungry, really. Apparently, I've just been eating twice as much damn food as I needed.

On Thursday, I weighed 242, and so I grew sleek and complacent. This morning, I got on the scale and... *un disastro!* weighed 245. I got on the Precor AMT elliptical trainer and set it to ***UNLEASH HELL*** for 45 minutes. Hurrah, I snatched my money from Randy's hands yet again! PHEW!

OH THANK GAWD I made it. On Friday afternoon, the scale still said 251, and I was pretty worried. I used up my "beginner's luck" weight loss before I started the plan... but I made it, HURRAH! And without getting too crazy, either -- just sticking to sensible food and working out five times for thirty minutes each.

I signed up for the plan on Thursday, even though my usual weigh-in day is Monday. That meant that Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, I was incentivized to EAT AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE. Fortunately, I managed to keep it sane until I got on the scale for the first time and kicked off the plan!
